Growth in professional and managerial positions in Victoria has eased after recording the strongest growth for a decade,
nevertheless it is still growing at a healthy 4.0% annually.
Managerial positions are growing at 4.4% (year ended February 2011), with strong movement in specialist management
positions. Demand for specialist fnance, human resources and policy and planning specialist managers is particularly strong.
Positions are also growing for construction and engineering related specialist managers. Refecting the solid economic
performance of the Victorian economy, demand for hospitality and retail services managers is also growing solidly.
Professional positions also continue to grow, at a level of 3.6% (year ended February 2011). Specifcally, positions for business
and human resources professionals are growing strongly while demand for design, engineering and science professionals is also
rising. Positions for education professionals are growing and so too are opportunities for legal professionals. Positions for health
professionals remain steady.
With the Victorian economy continuing to grow, the EMDA models are showing continued strong growth in this market, although
not at the speed experienced in the frst half of 2010, which was quite exceptional. By November 2011, professional/managerial
positions are expected to be growing by 2.5% p.a.
