With the improvement in the New South Wales economy and the Australian economy overall, the demand for professionals and
managers in NSW is strong. Jobs grew by 4.1% in the year to February 2011, although this rate has slowed from mid-2010.
Managerial positions are growing at a healthy rate, with jobs growing at 2.5%. Specialist managers in engineering, production
and supply are also in strong demand, while ICT management positions are also growing again. Hospitality management
positions are frming very strongly as business gears up for an expected increase in consumer discretionary spending.
Another robust area is in health-related managerial positions.
Professional positions continue to grow strongly in the state, with positions up 5.0%. Opportunities for design, engineering
and science professionals are also showing growth. Positions for civil engineers are growing strongly as well, while demand for
education professionals is growing again. As per usual, the need for health professionals is increasing and positions for lawyers
are opening up.
With the NSW economy gathering growth momentum, the outlook for the Professional/Managerial Sector in the state is strong,
with positions forecast to grow by 3.0% p.a. by November 2011.
