Overall, the managerial and professional market in South Australia has been much like business as usual, with some strong
quarters matched by some weaker ones. This was the case throughout 2010. In the last quarter (August 2010), jobs fell slightly,
but on an annual basis the trend is positive.
Managerial positions fell slightly in the year ended August 2010, down 0.7%. The main reason for this was a decline in farm
management positions. However, with the recent rains this sub-sector is likely to turn around. Specialist management positions
grew strongly, up more than 15%. Sales and marketing positions are growing as well.
The professionals market has been stronger in SA, with jobs up 7.2% in the year to August 2010. Jobs for accountants and
fnance brokers have been particularly strong, with jobs up more than 10%. Positions for health and education professionals
continue to be strong, particularly in the health area. Jobs for ICT professionals are also growing.
The SA economy is forecast to continue to grow and as a consequence, positions for professionals and managers are predicted
to continue to increase, annual growth expected to reach 3.1% by May 2011.
