Despite the relatively weak Queensland economy, positions in the Professional/Managerial Sector in Queensland are strong,
with jobs growing 5.7 % (year ended August 2010).
Managerial positions overall are growing strongly, up 6.3%. Specialist managerial positions continue to grow, with jobs up 1.5%.
Refecting the still weak economic situation, demand for hospitality managers is still falling, but the rate of decline has slowed.
In a sign of better times ahead, positions for specialist sales and marketing managers are growing again (1.1%).
Professional positions are growing strongly, rising at 5.3% p.a. (year ended August 2010). Accountant positions are particularly
strong, with jobs growing at over 10%. Jobs for education professionals are also strong and as per usual, jobs for health
professionals continue to grow.
With the Queensland economy expected to return to better times, more growth is expected in the managerial and professional
job areas. By May 2011, jobs are forecast to be growing at a healthy 4.5% on an annual basis. Such growth will lead to a greater
level of skills shortages for Queensland in the future.
