The growth in managerial and professional positions in Victoria has been the strongest recorded for a decade.
Managerial positions are growing at over 12.2%, with strong growth in both specialist and general management positions.
Refecting the change in outlook for business in moving to a growth platform, sales and marketing positions are growing
strongly. Managerial positions in the hospitality sub-sectors are also growing strongly as Victorians spend more in cafes and
Professional positions also continue to grow strongly, with positions growing at 6.1% p.a. during the year ended August 2010.
In fact, positions have grown since 2005. Positions are growing for a wide variety of professionals; sales and marketing
professional positions are growing strongly; demand for accountants and business advisers is also rising. Positions for education
professionals are also rising strongly. Health professional positions have steadied after strong growth but this is more a
refection of the diffculty in fnding suitably skilled staff.
With the Victorian economy growing strongly, the EMDA models are showing continued strong growth in this market, although
not quite at the speed experienced in the frst half of 2010, which was quite exceptional.
