With the improvement in the New South Wales and Australian economies overall, the demand for professionals and managers in
NSW is strong. Jobs grew by 5.9% in the year to August 2010, the highest annual rate in 10 years.
Managerial positions are growing strongly, with jobs growing at +6.3%. Demand for specialist managers is very strong with jobs
up 9.1%. Refecting the change in the business environment to one of expansion, specialist advertising and marketing positions
are growing at over 10 %. Specialist managers in engineering, production and supply are also in strong demand. Hospitality
management positions are growing again as consumers open their wallets once more.
Professional positions continue to grow strongly in NSW, with positions up 5.7%. Roles for accountants and auditors are also
growing. Refecting the focus on growth, positions for sales and marketing professionals are also up (+5.9%). Education and
health professional positions continue to grow. In the case of the health professionals, jobs growth hardly slowed even during
the GFC. Demand for ICT professionals is also growing (+3.5%).
With the NSW economy gathering growth momentum, the outlook for the Professional/Managerial Sector in the state is strong,
with positions forecast to grow by 5.0% p.a. by May 2011.
