Home' Employment Forecast : April 2010 Contents MyCareer Employment Forecast
The MyCareer Employment Forecast has provided a highly reliable indicator of the employment market since
2003. Recent events --- principally the Global Financial Crisis --- have tested our record but as regular readers
will attest, the forecast continued to be accurate even through those turbulent economic times.
In this expanded report we have added some additional sections to aid the Recruitment Industry. In particular,
we now examine the market for Professionals and Managers in all the mainland States. We have also expanded
the industries covered to include Tourism and Engineering. Additional commentary and jobs performance
assessments at a State level have also been added.
Overall, the findings of our latest report are the most positive for two years -- really, since the GFC gripped the
world. Some industries and States are performing better than others and there are differences in the outlook.
For example, jobs growth amongst Professionals and Managers in Victoria has been very strong recently. The
Mining Sector is poised for recovery with reports already emerging of skills shortages, while jobs for Twilight
Careers are booming. But it is not all good news --- full time jobs are still contracting, although a turnaround is
imminent, and Generation Y continues to suffer the most of all the segments.
